(Screenshot from How To Mechatronics' video "DIY Arduino based RC Transmitter") I'd recommend "fritzing". ![]() The layers are also useful as you can use them to organize different types of signals. Standard EDA tools like KiCAD can still be used if you just keep everything on a 0.1" grid and 90° traces. Fritzing is kind of designed around making protoboard/breadboard layouts as opposed to the free-form, multi-layer PCB layouts. ![]()
